The Maryland legislature was in session in 2014 from January 8 through April 7. During that time, the legislature considered nearly 2,700 bills. MAOP worked with the American Osteopathic Association to support telemedicine, oppose a scope of practice expansion for naturopaths, and support restricting access to tanning facilities by minors.
The legislature is expected to convene again on January 14, 2015. Scope of practice, osteopathic equivalency, and medical liability reform will remain as high priority issues to monitor in the upcoming session.
