CONTINUING MEDICATION EDUCATION

The Maryland Association of Osteopathic Physicians is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians.

The Maryland Association of Osteopathic Physicians designates this program for a maximum of 16 AOA Category 1-A credits and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician’s participation in this activity.

Dr. Chaudhry will summarize recent developments related to state medical licensure and regulation across the United States, highlighting recent examples of professional misconduct that led to disciplinary actions by a state medical board, recent developments related to the decision by nine states to streamline the licensure of fully-trained international medical graduates, an update on the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact, FSMB guidelines related to physician and physician assistant reentry, recent guidance from the FSMB’s Ethics and Professionalism Committee, and the FSMB’s 2024 census of actively licensed physicians in the United States.

The session will also explore recent guideline updates, emerging treatment options, and practical considerations for optimizing stroke care in various clinical settings.

Dr. David Afzal will present a lecture on Sexual Health History, focusing on the importance of comprehensive and inclusive patient conversations. This talk will cover best practices for obtaining a thorough sexual health history, addressing patient concerns with sensitivity, and integrating this information into clinical decision-making to improve overall patient care. Attendees will gain practical strategies for fostering open, judgment-free discussions and ensuring that sexual health is an integral part of routine medical assessments. The session will also explore common challenges and misconceptions, equipping providers with the tools to offer more effective and patient-centered care.
