A word from the
President of the Student Advisory Board:
Dear Students,
It is my privilege to serve as the inaugural President of the newly formed Student Advisory Board of the Maryland Association of Osteopathic Physicians (MAOP). As we launch this exciting new chapter, I’m proud to be part of a growing movement to elevate student voices and strengthen the presence of osteopathic medical students across Maryland.
This is a pivotal moment. With the creation of our Student Advisory Board and student member platform, MAOP is opening new pathways for student involvement, leadership, and collaboration. Our mission is to build a supportive, inclusive space where students can connect with mentors, gain early access to professional development opportunities, and help shape the future of osteopathic medicine in our state.
I encourage you to take part in this foundational moment—whether by attending Student Day, applying for future leadership roles, submitting research, or simply sharing your ideas with us. This is your chance to help build something meaningful from the ground up.
Thank you for being part of this exciting beginning. I look forward to the journey ahead and all we’ll accomplish—together.
With Gratitude,
Shivika Gaind; President, Student Advisory Board
Maryland Association of Osteopathic Physicians (MAOP)
